卡尔·夏皮罗（1913-）是美国当代著名的诗人兼评论家。第二次世界大战时他曾在南太平洋一带作战4年，并写下了大量的佳作。复员回国时，他已成为著名的诗人，先后出版了三本战地诗集，并获得普利策奖。《魂牵故乡》是卡尔·夏皮罗在南太平洋作战时写的一首著名的诗篇，广为流传，受到人们喜爱。
