Pre-task preparation

1 Ask the students: Where did the children go on their holiday? to elicit: City Park. Ask the students to read the story on page 13 of the Student's Book again.

2 Students complete the letter in Look, read and write in pairs. Invite a few more able students to read their letters aloud.

Post-task activity

A story-telling game

a Divide the class into two groups. Write a list of verbs in different forms (simple present and simple past) on the board. Start the story by saying a sentence in the simple past tense. The two groups take turns to continue the story. The other students have to listen carefully. The time limit is five minutes.

b Divide the class into groups of five. Ask the students if they can remember the story. They work together to write the story on a piece of paper.

c Groups take turns to read their story to the class. Ask the class to listen carefully. Encourage the students to raise their hands whenever they hear anything which they consider to be inaccurate. Invite the other groups to make corrections.

d Encourage the more able students to write the story on the board.
