Li Yonghong

Nanjing Road

September 19, 2005

Dear Yonghong

Long time no see! I’m your former classmate.I have often wondered how you are and what became of you after we all finished high school. You have been away from our hometown for so long, and I haven’t seen you for a few years. But a few weeks ago,Han Feiyan told me that she heard you now have a very good job,and many apportunities.

Do you remember how sad everybody was that you could not go to university.I think it was very generous of your parents to offer you some money to set up a little shop.Everybody wondered why you did not take their offer, and we were even more surprised when you borrowed money to train as a hairdresser. Many of us wondered what would happen to you.At that time I also felt that you were takinga big risk, and should have settled for your parents’ offer. That would have been safe.

But now I understand you were the cleverest of us all. There are so many of our former classmates who want to become a manager, but even after university they cannot. It was the right decision not to go to university. You are one of the few who has managed and you did it all on your own.I think it is great! Many people believe that a university degree is the passport to a good careerm, but you have shown that through vocational training, hard work and talent you can have a bright future.I admire your courage and the way you mangaged your finances while developing your career! Your parents must be so proud of you as the most successful daugter in the village. Many other parents now encourage their children to follow your example.Personally,I think I would not have taken such a financial risk, but now that everybody can see how successful you are,it is easier for other children and parents to choose an alternative career.

I think we could all learn from you .

We all expect that you make much more achievement in the future.

Best wishes

Your sincerely
