Teaching Aims:

1.Revise useful expressions from Unit 1 to Unit 5

2. Revise the grammar: The Present Perfect Tense and the Object Clause.

3. Encourage the Ss to train their abilities of listening , writing, and speaking.

4.Have the Ss know : Water is important to the environment, and even it is important to our lives.

Lesson 21.

Properties: Recorder, overhead projector; pictures and some real objects

Language focus:

Useful expressions: have an accident; hurt badly; ride a motorbike;

The Present Perfect Tense:

What’s happened? They’ve had an accident.

Has anyone called the police? Yes, they have.

Grammar: The Object Clause.

He said that he had a book.

He said that he would not fly to Hainan.

Teaching Procedures:

Ⅰ. Showing aims:

1. Master some useful expressions.

2. Revise the Present Perfect Tense.

3. Revise the Object Clause.

Ⅱ. Revision

Revise The Present Perfect Tense.. Ask the Ss some questions like: Have you ever been to Hongkong? Get the Ss to answer the questions correctly, then Ss practise “ ask and answer” in pairs, using The Present Perfect Tense, and choose several pairs to perform their dialogues.

Write down some verbs on the BB for the Ss to make sentences, using the Present Perfect Tense.

Ⅲ.Presentation

1. Show a picture of an accident to the Ss. Get the ss to look and talk about the accident, using some words such as have an accident; hurt badly; fall off; hit…

2. Have the ss read and practise the dialogue in pairs. Get some groups to act the dialogue without looking at the books.

3. Ask the Ss to make similar dialogue in pairs. Then get two groups to act out their dislogue to share with the whole class.

Ⅳ. Puzzle dialogue:

Find the best answers by themselves. Check the answers with the whole class. Make sure they can answer correctly.

Ask the students to make up some similar questions then get the other students to answer them.

Ⅴ.Presentation:

1. Put up a map of China on the Bb. Ask : Have you ever been to..?

Get the ss to ask and answer in pairs.

2. Speech cassette. Play the tape for the ss to listen and repeat. Ask the ss to read the dialogue in pairs. Then read the dialogue individually again and find the answers to the questions:

3. Read through the dialogue with the SS. Ask and answer in pairs. Then make similar dialogues in pairs, using the phrases in the box of the book..

Do Ex 2 in the WB to help the Ss understand the grammar easily.

Ⅵ. Workbook:

1. Do Exx 1 orally in pairs. Have the Ss ask and answer in pairs.

2. Do Exx 2 in the exercise books. Have the s do it by themselves.

3. Do Ex 3. get the ss to do it themselves, then discuss in pairs. The answers are: will send; Have heard; got; has been; has gone; Has been; was; hear; will go; will enjoy.

Ⅷ.Summary.

Homework:

1. Finish the exercises in the workbook..

2. Make 5 sentences of the Object Clause in different tenses.

Lesson 22.

Properties: Recorder, overhead projector; pictures and some real objects

Language focus:

Useful expressions: anywhere; explore; keep the clean

The Object Clause: Have decided to tell people how important it was to save the environment under the sea.

Teaching Procedures:

Ⅰ. Showing aims:

1. Master some useful expressions and understand some difficult sentences..

2. Read the passage, try to do some reading comprehension.

3. Discuss to find some ways to help keeping the water clean.

Ⅱ. Revision:

1.Check homework.

Revise Lesson 21. Practise the dialogue of Lesson 21 in front of the class.

Ask: If the water is dirty, how will the would be? Have the Ss discuss it in groups of four, then get some groups to give out their ideas.

Ⅲ. Pre-read

Part 1. Show the Ss a picture of the sea . In small groups, get the Ss to discuss the questions.

Get the Ss ask and answer in pairs.

Ⅳ.Presentation

Show the pictures. Present this dialogue:

T: Have you ever seen the sea?

S: Yes, I’ve been only once.

T: When did you go there?

S: I went there last year.

T: How do you like the sea?

S: It’s very beautiful.

Get the Ss to practise the dialogue in pairs. Give them a few minutes for them to discuss, then ask some of the SS to give their reports to share with the class.

Get the ss to talk about the sea and speak out their own experience.

Ⅴ.Read.

Part 2. Speech cassette. Books closed. Play the tape for the Ss to listen and find the answers to the questions, check the answers with the whole class. Help the Ss understand the passage easily.

Help the Ss use three words:be interested in; explore; anywhere; keep the sea clean, and see if the Ss can guess the meaning of the new words.

Then play the tape again for the Ss to repeat.

Ask the SS to listen carefully. Then stop the tape while the SS are listening, and ask them to go on reading. It can test the SS’ abilities to follow the passage as it is read on the tape.

Read the passage individually and find the answers to following questions:

Discuss the questions in pairs. Then ask and answer.

Ⅵ. Group work:

Part 3. Discuss the importance of the water. Ask:

What is the pollution in China?

How can we find the ways to keep the water clean?

Get the ss to discuss in groups. Then have them speak out their ideas, and get them to write down their ideas in the exercise books.

One of them read out his report to the class.

Ⅶ. Workbook:

1.Do Exx 2 orally in class. Have the Ss read the dialogue in pairs, then check in class. And write down their own ideas in the exercise books.

3. Do Exx 3, first orally, then do it as homework.

Ⅷ. Summary.

Homework:

Finish off the exercises in the workbook..

Lesson 23.

Properties: Recorder, overhead projector; pictures and some real objects

Language focus:

1. How long have you lived in Honolulu?

I’ve lived here since I was 3 years old.

2. How long have you been surfing?

I’ve been surfing for 4 years.

3. What’s the longest time you’ve been down?

I’ve been down as long as two hours.

Teaching Procedures:

Ⅰ. Showing aims:

1.Master some useful expressions.

2.Go on revising the grammar: the Present Perfect Tense, try to use the following drills freely:

How long have you lived in Honolulu?

I’ve lived here since I was 3 years old.

2. Make up their own dialogues.

3.Revise the Object Clause.

Ⅱ. Revision:

1.Check homework;

2.Revise the passage of Lesson 22. First get the Ss to ask and answer some questions about the passage, see if they can understand the passage correctly. Get one of them to retell it.

4. Get the Ss to talk about diving and the importance of the water and say something about Coustean(法国著名潜水冒险家和作家)

Have some of the Ss give their talk in class.

Ⅲ.Presentation1:

Present this dialogue:

T: How long have you learned English?

S: I have learned since I was 6 years old.

T: Do you like Learning English?

S: I like it very much. Because it very interesting.

Show the dialogue on a slide and ask the SS to read it in pairs.

Give them a few seconds to practise the dialogue in pairs. ask several pair to perform the dialogue for the class.

Ⅳ. Read and act:

Speech cassette. Play the tape for the Ss to listen and repeat. Then in pairs, have the Ss read and act the dialogue, ask several pair to perform the dialogue for the class. Ask: How long has Mike lived in Honolulu? How long has LiuYang been surfing? See if the ss can answer correctly

Book open. Play the tape again, and get the Ss to repeat after the tape.

Ⅴ.Practice :

Practise the dialogue in pairs. Have the Ss practise the dialogue in pairs, then ask some SS to act them out in class.

Ⅵ.Ask and answer:

Talk about the dialogue of Part 1. Finish the sentences in pairs. The ask and answer in pairs.

Ⅶ. Practise:

Talk in groups of three. The first student says something, the second student may ask: Whatdoes he say? The third student repeats, using the Object Clause: He says that….

Ⅷ. Workbook:

1.Do Exx 1 orally with the whole class. Discuss the answers with the partner,and finish the dislogue. Have two students read the dialogue in pairs, then check the answers in class.

2.Do Exx 2 as homework., then write down the sentences.

Ⅸ. Summary.

Homework:

Finish the exercises in the workbook..

Read the dialogue and make similar dialogues.

Lesson 24.

Properties: Recorder, overhead projector; pictures and some real objects

Language focus:

Useful expressions: be interested in; help sb do sth; look for information; thousands of years; as long as; get out of the water; sea animal.

Teaching Procedures:

Ⅰ. Showing aims:

1Revise the Object Clause and the Present Perfect Tense.

2.Revise all the contents of Unit 6.

3.To train their listening and writing abilities.

4. Go through Checkpoint6.

5. Write a short passage to train the SS’ writing abilities.

Ⅱ. Revision:

1.Check homework.

2.Revise the useful expressions, give out some useful expressions, have the Ss make sentences with the useful expressions: be interested in; help sb do sth..

Make sure the Ss can ask and answer correctly.

3.Revise the Object Clause, have the Ss play the chain games. Get the ss to discuss in groups. Make sure the Ss can use the Present Perfect Tense and the Object Clause correctly.

Ⅲ.Listen

Listening cassette. Go through the Ex1 in WB with the Ss. Play the tape for the ss to listen and finish Ex 1 in WB . Play the tape again, Get the SS to check their answers. Then check with the whole class.

Ⅳ.Presentation: Tell the students that you’re interested in the sea. Ask: How can I find some information about different kinds of sharks? Get individual student to answer this question. Encourage them to try to say out all kinds of the ways that they know.

Ⅴ. Practice:

Look and role-play. Get one student to work with the teacher as an example. Then get all the SS to work in pairs. Have some pairs work in front of the class.

Ⅵ.Reading:

Speech cassette. Ask : What is a shark? Play the tape for the Ss to listen and repeat, and try to find the answer: ( A shark is a fish)

Read the passage by themselves, and try to find the answers to the following questions:

1. Is a shark the same as a fish? Give an example.

2. How many kinds of sharks are there?

3. What is said to be one of the most dangerous sharks?

4. How can people be warned about sharks in the water?

Discuss the questions in pairs and check the answers with the whole class. Explain words: attack; watch town; beach;

Ⅶ. Write:

Look at the pictures of the animals Discuss each picture in groups Then have the ss write something about the animals. Ask some students to give out their repeats.

Checkpoint 6.

Go through Checkpoint 6 with the Ss. Solve any problems that the Ss may have. Make sentences with the useful expressions, and make sure that the Ss can use them freely. Get the Ss to go over the grammar notes.

Ⅷ. Workbook:

1. Do Exx 2 orally in class. Do it in Ex book. Pay attention to the stress.

2. Do Exx 3 with the Ss in class. Practise the dialogue in pairs. The answers are: 1.for 2. except. 3. without. 4, as; 5. off.

3. Do Ex 4 as homework.
