　　九华山在皖南青阳县境内，是我国四大佛教名山之一。唐代文学家刘禹锡，登上九华山后，对其赞叹不已，认为天下名山均不能与九华山争长。李白曾三上九华山。九华山的特点是山奇峰秀，佛寺众多。

　　早在东晋年间(401年)，山上就开始建寺庙，以后历代都增建、扩建，形成三里一小庙，五里一大庙，庙宇遍布全山，据说兴盛时期多达300余座，僧众四五千人。现在保存完整的寺庙尚有五六十座。

　　游九华山，首先到九华街，这里海拔 600多米，是九华山的中心，寺庙也主要集中在这里，因此有莲花佛国之称。这里实际上是一个山上的村镇，除了庙宇外，还有商店、学校、旅店、农舍，游人可以在这里住宿，并以此为起点，游览山上的名胜。
